About 7th Boston (Swineshead) Scout Group

Scouting in Swineshead.
Adventure starts here.

Since 2013, 7th Boston Scout Group has helped young people in Swineshead and the surrounding Boston area of Lincolnshire find friendship, discover new skills and grow in confidence. Today, our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers share a journey full of adventure.

A local group with a clear purpose

A place to belong.
Room to grow.

Our group began with a simple idea: give young people in Swineshead a safe, sheltered place to spend their evenings when they had nowhere else to go. From just two Scouts meeting in the Church Hall in 2013, we have grown into a group with five sections and opportunities stretching from early childhood into the teenage years.

That original purpose still guides us. We want young people to have somewhere they feel welcome, friendships they can count on and the chance to discover what they can do. Through Scouting, they learn new skills, take on challenges and build independence at their own pace.

We serve families in Swineshead and surrounding communities in the Boston area. Whether your child is ready for a first adventure or looking for a new challenge, our team can help you find the right section.

Our Scout Show has been a group tradition since 2016. It brings young people together to develop their confidence and stage skills while raising important funds for local Scouting.

About 7th Boston Swineshead

Your questions, answered.

Everything you need to know before your young person starts their Scout adventure with us.

Which section is right for my child?

Squirrels are for ages 4–6, Beavers for ages 6–8, Cubs for ages 8–10½ and Scouts for ages 10½–14. Our Explorer section continues the adventure for teenagers. Contact us for help choosing the right section and checking current availability.

Can my child try Scouts before joining?

Yes. Contact us and we will arrange a friendly taster session with the appropriate section before you decide whether to join.

When and where do the sections meet?

Our five sections meet regularly in Swineshead. Contact the group for the current meeting day, time and venue for your young person’s section.

How much does joining Scouts cost?

Membership costs and payment arrangements are confirmed by the section team. We aim to keep Scouting affordable and encourage families to speak to us if cost could be a barrier.

Do parents need to volunteer?

There is no requirement to volunteer, but extra adult support helps us offer more activities. Roles can be regular, occasional or behind the scenes, and no previous Scouting experience is needed.

Can families from outside Swineshead join?

Yes. We welcome enquiries from Swineshead, Boston and surrounding villages. Let us know your child’s age and which section you are interested in so we can check availability and explain the meeting arrangements.

Who runs the group and the activities?

Our group is supported by adult volunteers who plan activities, help at meetings and camps, and keep things running behind the scenes. Visit Meet the Leaders and Our Committee to learn about the people involved, or contact the group if you are unsure who to speak to.

Where can we find practical information for new members?

Start with your section page, then visit Resources for uniform, badges and the Promise. What’s on lists upcoming events, and the camp checklist helps with packing. Always follow the section team’s instructions for your particular visit, activity or camp.
